Self-administration of high viscosity and high volume (1-2 ml) biologic drugs with simple, ergonomic, syringe-based injection technology

DescriptionAs high dose biologic formulations push the limits of self-injection into 1-2 ml formats and beyond, injections are becoming more challenging, due to increased delivery time and/or force required to inject. Because of this, delivery systems that are safe, intuitive, and easy to use, and appropriate for the target user population, are increasingly necessary. Self-injections have traditionally been provided in the form of autoinjectors which reduce the force applied by the user. However, this presentation highlights how manual injections, when given in a suitable delivery format, can also feasibly deliver injections that push the boundaries of volume and viscosity. This poster will present the results of a human factors study on manual injection for large volume (>1 ml) delivery.
