DescriptionDr. Fairbanks, whose human factors training proceeded his medical training, will share his personal journey on how he first started integrating Human Factors and Ergonomics into healthcare, and what led to the establishment, growth, and success of the National Center for Human Factors in Healthcare at MedStar Health, an integrated healthcare delivery and hospital system. He will discuss the vision, strategies, tactics, and barriers on the development of the Center, and reflect on the Center’s role from his subsequent perspective as the health system’s senior leader in quality and safety. Further, he will speak about what he believes the future will hold and what other Human Factors and Ergonomics practitioners and clinicians can do to incorporate Human Factors and Ergonomics into clinical operations.
