Andrew Shirk is an application architect and software engineer living in Durham, NC. He is the founder of Magneta Health, which designs and develops end-to-end software applications to improve the patient and provider experience. Before founding Magneta Health, Andrew developed software systems for patient-reported outcomes at the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Prior to his focus on improving healthcare, Andrew held leadership roles in a variety of research and commercial software projects for cyberinfrastructure in the digital humanities at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA), the School of Information Sciences at the University of Illinois, and elsewhere. Andrew has a special interest in interaction design and in exploring the intersections of art & technology. He holds an MFA from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
