Ian Shields is the Dean's Research Fellow in Quality Improvement at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and a rising final year medical student with Distinction in Quality Improvement & Patient Safety. Mr. Shields received his bachelor's in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology from Harvard University. His fellowship work aims to advance how healthcare teams understand and approach errors in a complex system. He works on advancing interprofessional simulation design by optimizing the integration of learner voice. Mr. Shields plans to specialize in anesthesiology.
