I am an Assistant Professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine & Public Health and a member of the Vanderbilt Clinical Informatics Center and the Center for Health Services Research at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Broadly, my research focuses on innovating to improve healthcare quality and safety. My research employs new tools like digital health apps and the development of new metrics to improve the quality of patient care. I have expertise in healthcare quality, Health IT development and evaluation, primary care, and health services research. My research incorporates collaboration with a range of experts in design thinking, human factors engineering, health behavior & communication, and implementation science. The primary interest of our research group is on increasing patient engagement in chronic disease management by employing novel patient-facing health technologies. As a primary care physician, I am particularly committed to furthering patient engagement in the primary care setting.
