Gabrielle is a recent graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she received a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering. During undergrad, she was involved in disinfection research, a water treatment project in Ecuador, and the concrete canoe team. She is interested in health technology because it is at the intersection of design and healthcare. Gabrielle is working with Dr. Megan Huisingh-Scheetz at the University of Chicago Medicine on modeling accelerometry data to assess frailty in older adults. Wearable accelerometers may be able to increase the accessibility and comprehensiveness of frailty evaluations. The project aims to identify combinations of wrist accelerometry measures that are significantly associated with clinical frailty measures, disability, and falls.
