Dr. Helen Fuller is a Systems Safety Engineer with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Health Informatics (OHI) Clinical Informatics and Data Management Office (CIDMO) Human Factors Engineering (HFE) team. Her responsibilities include analyzing, designing, and testing VHA health care systems, including processes, workflows, and the optimization of and risk management for system performance. Helen provides expert advice and counsel on human performance risks and issues and supports the implementation of the human-centered design (HCD) approach across VHA.
Prior to joining OHI CIDMO HFE, Helen was a biomedical engineer with the VHA National Center for Patient Safety (NCPS), where she participated in product investigations and health care human factors efforts. Helen completed her PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan in 2010, with a focus on human factors and ergonomics, including cognitive and physical modeling of driver distraction.
